A couple of nights ago I hit the whisky for the first
time in ages. Whisky often gets me thinking. Sometimes it makes me do crazy
things like making mad emails or texts, but that’s another story.
Occasionally whisky gives me some great insights into
Life and beyond. Sure enough, this time I again got to thinking that I’m “The
One” like the hero of “Matrix. That I’m more important than Obama, Putin, May,
even Royalty. That I should be utterly selfish and take what I want. Then only
go to court if frogmarched there.
But then I started to think about consequences… If I
was so selfish and even criminal then I would no doubt drum up a lot of
opposition. And I’ve been brought up through “Macho Man Culture” to fight my
opponents.
In my darker moments I recall many a time when I was
bullied at school, college or work and wish I’d retaliated Big Time. But Wait!
That’s that Macho Thing again!!! And it won’t work!
When I was 19 I realised that an individual’s first
Priority is Survival. You have to survive first and foremost before you can
aspire to anything else. Interesting that I thought this when I was at Teacher
Training College, but that’s yet another story.
Realistically, to be able to fight every corner you
would have to be trained as a Marine or someone similar, and master a vast array
of martial arts etc. And even then, at some point you would probably meet your
match.
In other words, fighting, battling and otherwise being
Macho
is not Smart. (Smartness is better than “Intelligence” by the way,
which is in turn superior to IQ). Sorry, but the smart way is to be sneaky,
conniving or whatever it takes to go undetected or make a clean escape if “found
out”. Tell some white lies too. All this goes against my upbringing of course,
but needs must.
Fight or flight? It has to be flight every time, given
the opportunity. But if you have to fight, make it guerrilla warfare
or become a sniper or something. Fight Smart too, if you have to.
In retrospect my teenage tactic of keeping my head
down and my mouth shut was quite wise. I overdid that tactic of course, but hey…
I can be a smart lad at times. If reluctant to use my
smartness. As I say, Smartness is good for the purposes of Survival. So don’t
be afraid to play the Mouse if you have to. Nuff Said. Out.
